  1. Art Exhibit – Clymenza Hawkins

    nieuw haven, Harlem

The architecture of Harlem inspired me to make photographs of doorways from brownstones and apartment buildings to assemble “familiar” images of natural havens. From Sugar Hill to Malcolm X Boulevard, these havens reveal the beauty of solitude within a community during the urban renewal of Harlem. Many of it’s buildings remain while the rest of them do not exist anymore.

Opening reception will be held on Wednesday September 7, 2011 at 7:00pm

    Views of India – July-August 2011

Under my non-profit organization, The Project Solution (www.theprojectsolution.org), I traveled to India to visit a project we were funding in a small village in the state of Orissa.  My trip gave me the opportunity to experience life in a very local community.  The people were generous, warm and welcoming everywhere I went.

This series includes both black & white and color images.  The black & white photographs were shot on film and hand printed.
